Sizing & Fit
How do I find the right size?
You'll need three measurements: your dachshund's back length (base of neck to base of tail), chest girth (widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs), and neck circumference. Then match them to our size chart. Full instructions and the size chart are on our Sizing Guide.
What if my dog falls between sizes?
Size up for comfort — all our coats are cut with dachshunds' long bodies in mind, so a little extra length is better than a coat that's too snug around the chest.
Do you offer custom sizing?
Yes. Because everything is handmade by us, we can accommodate custom measurements. Get in touch at hello@dachshundcoatcompany.co.uk before ordering. Please note that custom-sized coats are not eligible for returns or exchanges unless faulty, so it's worth double-checking your measurements first.
Lead Times & Orders
How long will my order take?
Everything is handmade to order. Current estimated dispatch times are:
- Coats & jumpers: 10-14 working days from order date
- Accessories: 3–5 working days from order date
Autumn is our busiest season, so please factor this in. Once dispatched, delivery times depend on your location — see our Shipping & Returns page for details.
Can I get my order faster?
Drop us a message before ordering and we'll let you know if we can accommodate a faster turnaround. We can't guarantee it, but we'll always do our best.
Coat Care
How do I care for a wax coat?
Wax coats should not go in the washing machine or tumble dryer. After a muddy walk, lay the coat flat and let it dry completely, then brush off the mud with a clothes brush. For stubborn marks, spot clean with a damp cloth only.
How waterproof are the wax coats?
Our Classic Wax Raincoats are made from dry wax fabric from Halley Stevenson’s Scottish factory. They are ideal for typical British weather and rain.
How do I care for a tweed or wool coat?
Do not machine wash tweed or wool coats. After a wet or muddy walk, lay flat to dry completely, then brush off any mud with a clothes brush once it's dry. Spot clean if needed.

How do I care for a waterproof full-body coat?
These can be machine washed at 30°C. Lay flat to dry — do not tumble dry.
How do I care for a fleece jumper?
Fleece jumpers are fully machine washable. They're made from 100% recycled polyester fleece.
Choosing the Right Coat
Which coat is right for my dog?
It depends on the weather and your dachshund's lifestyle:
- Classic Wax Raincoat — water-resistant, traditional country style with quilted tartan lining. Designed for typical British weather.
- Waterproof Full-Body Coat — fully waterproof ripstop outer with built-in snood and fleece lining. Good for cold, wet conditions and covers the tummy too.
- Tweed & Wool Coats — 100% wool outer with fleece lining. Warm and stylish, best for dry cold days.
- Fleece Jumper — lightweight warmth from 100% recycled polyester fleece. Good for cooler days or as a layer under another coat.
- Knit Jumpers — lightweight ribbed knit, suitable for mild weather or indoor warmth.

Shipping & Customs
Where do you ship to?
We currently ship to limited countries in the UK, EU, US, and internationally. If we don’t currently show shipping to your country, please get in touch and we will let you know if it will be possible to ship to you.

Do I need to pay import duties?
For orders outside the UK, import duties, customs fees, and local taxes (such as VAT) may be charged by your country's customs authority on arrival. These charges are outside our control and are the customer's responsibility. We recommend checking your country's import thresholds before ordering. Full details are on our Shipping & Returns page.
Returns & Exchanges
Can I return or exchange my order?
Yes — standard size items can be returned or exchanged within 30 days of delivery, provided they are unused and in their original condition. Return shipping costs are the sellers responsibility unless the item is faulty. Custom-sized orders are not eligible for return or exchange unless faulty.
